Petrified is part of my series titled Anxiety of Corvus which chronicles my complex relationship with Corvus, my corvine alter-ego who embodies my social anxiety.
Inspired by Edgar Allen Poe’s Raven, this piece recalls my vegetative state, in which I surrender to my inability to function socially. I no longer had the strength to fight against my social anxiety. I just became petrified.

in the midst of social faces
i drown in the shadow of corvus
petrified by their gaze
socially impaired by their words
